Harry served in the South Pacific during World War II. He joined the Minnesota Air National Guard in 1949, serving full-time until retiring in 1969. He was activated for the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era and achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.

Harry married Leona B. Olsen at Dodge Center, Minnesota on July 16, 1938. During their years together they have made their home in Faribault, Glencoe, West St. Paul, and Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
Harry was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, golfing and black powder target shooting.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Northern Rifle Club, Air Force Sergeants Association, Minnesota Air National Guard Historical Foundation and the NRA.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Vera Chapman, Adella Ponto, Irene Hargens, Annabelle Tilly; and brothers Gordon and Irad.
He is survived by his wife, Leona; brother, Francis (Joan); sister, Yvonne (Curtis) Christie; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
