Harvey went to work at Caterpillar Tractor Company.
He married Janice M. Kelley on January 12, 1951 in Pocahontas, Arkansas.
After his discharge, he returned to Caterpillar to work and retired after 30 years.
That is when his fun really began. Moving to his beloved lake in Minnesota, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, float trips down the Bigfork River and more.
Janice and Harvey returned to Illinois, where he was previously a gunsmith and began working on the Illinois River with a great friend. A self-taught banjo player he built his own and played in a little group of friends.
Harvey was a member of the American Legion. He participated in many Legion activities.
Harvey is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings; Hazel, Donald, Melba, and Russell.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years; son, Roger (Nanci); daughter, Kathleen (Douglas) Scheper; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brothers Merle and Raymond (Judy); sisters, Phyrne Howard and Shirley (Ed) Sorrrentino; and many nieces and nephews.
Harvey died at Bigfork Valley Hospital in Bigfork, Minnesota and was cremated.
