    Helen Maki worked as a registered nurse for many years at Deaconess Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin before becoming an Instructor of Medical-Surgical Nursing there for several years until her retirement in 1984. She was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Milwaukee, participating in various women’s and volunteer groups within the church, as well as singing in the choir. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. and many areas of the world with friends as part of the Elderhostel educational program for seniors, as well as volunteering at the public library and the LaFarge Lifelong Learning Institute in Milwaukee. She married Robert Korpi in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 16, 1950.

    Helen Korpi died in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. She is survived by a niece, Rebecca (Flatten) Bafford, and several great-nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1978; and her two sisters, Hazel Flatten and Lily "Lorraine" Peterson.
