    Herbert married Gladys Winterquist on October 31, 1943.

    He worked for Potlatch Corporation in Cloquet, Minnesota for 39 years, retiring as a foreman in 1983.

    Herbert was a member of the Potlatch Quarter Century Club, the Foresters, and Grace Baptist Church, all of Cloquet, Minnesota. He was a senior volunteer driver for Carlton County for many years.

    Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Wayne in 1966 and Merlyn in 1981; he is survived by his wife, Gladys; one son, Tim; three daughters, Karen Thorson, Marjorie Doty, and Darlene Tuura; two brothers, Loyal and Charles; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

    Herbert died in his home and is buried in Apostolic Lutheran Church at Esko, Minnesota.
