Hiram had been a resident of the Grand Rapids, Minnesota area since 1951 and was employed by Hanna Mining Company from 1951 to his retirement in 1972.

Hiram married Grace Mix in Walker, Minnesota on August 6, 1932.

He was a leisure time musician.

Hiram is survived by his wife, Grace; three daughters, June Nastansky, Marna Hanson, and Joyce Klev; one sister, Maudie Horton; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.

Hiram died at Itasca Medical Center in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Wildwood Cemetery at Cohasset, Minnesota. (Plot p22e14)
