Hjalmer Lindgren married Anna Barhaug in Minnesota in 1917. He was a member of the American Legion and was an honorary member of the Coleraine Civic Club.
Hjalmer died at his home in Coleraine and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine, Minnesota (Block 7). He is survived by his wife, Anna; two sons, Leonard and Howard; three daughters, Mrs. H. W. Johanson, Mrs. Pete Florek, and Mrs. Wesley Brown; a brother, Phillip Lindgren; and nine grandchildren.
