Howard lived in the Effie, Bigfork, and Grand Rapids, Minnesota area.
He worked as a lumberjack, a truck driver at the Tioga Mine, as the Itasca County Fairgrounds caretaker, and as a self-employed carpenter.
He was a member of the Ponti-Peterson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
Howard is survived by six daughters, Mary Shane, Eva Lewis, Linda VanDoren, Carol VanDoren, Sue Adams, and Alice Miller; a son, Howard, Jr.; special friend, Gladys Bunes; five sisters, Marian Peacore, Evelyn Lund, Pearl McMullen, Bertha Klennert, and Beverly Talonen; seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot C-D-09-1-5)
