Howard is survived by six daughters, Mary Shane, Eva Lewis, Linda VanDoren, Carol VanDoren, Sue Adams, and Alice Miller; a son, Howard, Jr.; special friend, Gladys Bunes; five sisters, Marian Peacore, Evelyn Lund, Pearl McMullen, Bertha Klennert, and Beverly Talonen; seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
