Hugh returned to Duluth, Minnesota following his military service and worked for United States Steel. He came to Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 1960 and worked for Blandin Paper Company in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ponti-Peterson Post 1720, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2469, and crew chief of Jackpine Savage race team in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; three sons; Tom, Ted, and Tim; three daughters, Julie Copeland, Jan Beebe, and Misty Beebe; a brother, Howard; a sister, Pat Frederick; and nine grandchildren.
Buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot I-B-13-1-0)
