Hugo was a self-employed logger most of his life. He also worked for the United States Forest Service.
Hugo is survived by his wife, Hilda; two sons, Maynard and Clyde; one daughter, Mrs. Sidney (Cynthia) Holmes; two brothers, Walter and Ferdinand; one sister, Lillian Johnson; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Hugo lived in Marcell, Minnesota. He died at Northern Itasca Hospital in Bigfork, Minnesota and is buried in Evergreen Knoll Cemetery in Itasca County, Minnesota.
