News article from Grand Rapids Herald Review, dated May 20, 1923:
"Isaiah Ethridge"
"One face is missing from the Memorial Day parade this morning, that of Isaiah Ethridge, one of the few Civil War veterans left in these last years. Mr. Ethridge died May 17 following a prolonged illness of heart trouble. He was 75 years and 2 days old, having celebrated his 75th birthday on May 15. Isaiah Ethridge was born in North Carolina and was a veteran of the Civil and Indian wars. It was with great anticipation that he looked forward to Decoration Day when he could take his place in the parade with the veterans. Mr. Ethridge came to LaPrairie about 25 years ago, where he resided until 2 years ago, when he came to Grand Rapids and resided in the west part of town with his daughter, Miss Ella Eathridge. His 2 daughters, Miss Ella and Mrs. Guy Robinson of LaPrairie, survive him.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, May 18, Rev. H. J. Snyder officiating. The Legion quartette furnished special music.
Internment was made in the Itasca Cemetery."
Isaiah is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot I-D-33-2-1)
