    Jim worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps at Owen Lake. Following his discharge, Jim moved to Grand Rapids, Minnesota. On February 8, 1947, he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Dahl. He was employed with Blandin Paper Company in Grand Rapids, Minnesota for 27 years, retiring in 1979.

    Jim was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for 60 years, where he was involved in various activities over the years, and was also involved with Camp Hiawatha on Deer Lake. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. of Grand Rapids, Minnesota and a member of the Sons of Norway.

    He is survived by his wife, Mary; one daughter Sharon (Rick) Szamatula; one granddaughter, Jamie Szamatual; and one sister, Elaine Eidsmoe.
