    Jim Murphy worked briefly for the Blandin Paper Company after his discharge from the Army. He then worked 35 years as photo/lithographer for the Grand Rapids Herald-Review and the NorthPrint Company, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Loyal Order of Moose, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the American Legion where he participated in the color guard. Jim also was a very avid sports fan and local sports supporter.

    Jim died at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Minnesota (Plot I-G-15-28). He is survived by his wife, Janice Hince; two daughters, Pam (Don Brabeck) Murphy and Joelle (Dean) Mutchler; a son, Kenny (Kathy) Murphy; two step-daughters, Janine (Lance) Neumann and Tracy (Don) Martin; two step-sons, Greg (Dawn) Hince and Doug (Jan) Hince; two sisters, Virginia Adams and Marge (Judo) Predovich; one brother, Richard (Joan) Murphy; sixteen grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
