Jimmy was a lifelong resident of the Calumet, Minnesota area.
Jimmy and Delrose "Billy" Veith were married November 23, 1974, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
He had been a deputy for the Itasca County Sheriff's Department, retiring on December 31, 1991, after 29 years.
Jimmy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Marble, Minnesota. He had served as a councilman and as mayor of the City of Calumet. He was a member of the Bovey Civic Club, the Greenway Lions Club, Bovey Farmer's Day Committee, the Bovey Moose, the Grand Rapids Eagles, the Pengilly VFW and the Marble American Legion.
Jimmy was also a private pilot. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, camping, woodworking and his garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Mary Furlong; sisters Jennie Furlong, Rosemary Johnson, and Janet Elich; and one brother, Frank.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Delrose "Billy"' a son, Leon (Michele); two granddaughters; brothers Dr. John Furlong and Emil Furlong; and sisters, Veronica Johnson, Lucille Detloff, Margaret Berschauer , Violet Egolf, Shirley Troye, and Mary Lou Cox.
Jimmy died at Itasca Medical Center in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery at Coleraine, Minnesota. (Block 61)
