J. Bevins Wounded in Action
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Bevins have received word from the War Department that their son, Staff Sergeant James S. Bevins has been wounded in action in France.
Staff Sergeant Jim is in a Ranger Division and took part in the invasion of June 6. No further particulars were available at this time.

News article from Grand Rapids Herald Review, dated August 3, 1964:
"James S. Bervins, (sp) 46, senior custodian at the county courthouse, died Sunday 45 minutes after he arrived at Itasca Memorial hospital. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Rowe funeral home."
Survivors are his wife, Josephine; three daughters, Linda, Patricia and Debra; a son, Bradley, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Bevins; three brothers, William, Raymond, and Kenneth; and four sisters, Mrs. Theodore Brorson, Mrs. Arden Johnson, Mrs. Loyal Omer, and Mrs. Vernon Sebade.
Born at Sebeka, Minnesota, Mr. Bevins had been courthouse custodian in Grand Rapids, Minnesota for the past 12 years.
