After serving during World War II, Jerry returned to Braham where he worked as a truck driver, salesman, and partsman for Dahlman Manufacturing Company.
He had been a resident of Grand Rapids, Minnesota since 1981.
Since 1983, he had been in partnership with Cecelia Foix, driving truck for Jerry Hammann Transportation as an owner-operator, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Braham, Minnesota, and a life member of the Ponti-Peterson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
Surviving relatives include daughter Wendy Nelson; sons Dwayne, Curtis, Ronald and Ted; his mother Laura Thomas; sister Laura Marie Daley; brothers Robert, Alvin, Daniel, and Clayton; special friend Cecelia Foix; stepdaughters Linda Griffith, Vicki Benes, and Janice Heegard; stepsons William, Ronald, and Tracy Foix; ten grandchildren and sixteen step-grandchildren.
Jerry died in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Harris Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot 2.34.2.1)
