Jerry served in the United States Marine Corps for twenty-five years.

Jerry was a member of the St. Paul Fire Department for twenty-seven years.
He loved nature, woodworking, painting, and being a rock hound. Jerry was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Minnesota for 49 years and also Old Scenic Community Bible Church in Bigfork, Minnesota. Jerry was a resident of Bigfork, Minnesota.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Charlotte Dey.
He is survived by his wife, Sally (Nihart); sons, Kleve (Sharon), Steve (Rose), Kevin (Debbie), Tom (Cathy), and John (Michele); his sister, Marie (Verne) Sanford; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, godchildren, other relatives and dear friends.
Jerry was cremated.
