    John was well-known as an outdoorsman and logging camp cook. He had been a resident of the district for 37 years.

    John married Myrtle Bowman on September 15, 1921 in Cass County, Minnesota.

    John was a member of the American Legion and VFW posts at Deer River, Minnesota.

    Survivors are two sons, William and John; two daughters, Virginia Fuller and Joyce Rustead; three brothers, Roy, Vernon, and Leon; two sisters, Harriet Brouseau and Sarra Jones; and nineteen grandchildren.

    John died at North Itasca Hospital in Bigfork, Minnesota and is buried in Olivet Cemetery at Deer River, Minnesota. (Division A, Block 5) No photo of grave marker is available at this time.
