John was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Blackberry.

Survivors are his wife, Esther; two daughters, Blanche Bitzer and Shirley Iverson; a son, Robert; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

John died at Itasca Memorial Hospital in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot C-C-16-0-6)
