On June 22, 1939, John married Cleone Carno. He was employed at Blandin Paper Company for over 40 years, retiring in 1978. He owned and operated Anderson Cycle and Fixit Shop for over 30 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, Endiron Trailer Club and Ponti-Peterson Post 1720 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
John was preceded in death by his wife in 1990. He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Amundson and Delores Audette; three brothers, Orvel, Elwood and Richard; two sisters, Ila Bishop and Donna Schadegge (Schaduck?), four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
