John came to Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 1950. He started a radio and TV service business, Gowen Radio and TV in the Western Auto Store.

John married Florence LaCour in South Dakota on April 9, 1932.

John retired in 1982 and moved to Bass Lake.

He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Florence; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Bonnie) Beck; and five grandchildren.

John died at the Deer River Hospital in Deer River, Minnesota and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot C-C-25-0-8)
