Newspaper article - Bovey Press, Bovey, Minnesota - February 5, 1943 - Letter dated January 25, 1943 - "Dear Friends: Received your most thoughtful presents and diary in excellent condition and wish to thank you for your kindness. It means so much to us, who are away from home, to be remembered, especially at Christmas time. It is doubly appreciated by us who are in a climate with little to remind us of the season, as we know it, with snow, trees, cold, etc. Some of us were being moved, and it took a few weeks for our mail to catch us, but it made the gifts none the less appreciated. Thanking you all, I am, Sincerely yours, Private John Bass."
