Joseph came to Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 1922. After service in the United States Army during World War II, where he earned the Purple Heart, he returned to Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He worked for Blandin Paper Company as a materials controlman for 39 years, retiring in 1980.
He married Marie Tapscott at Grand Rapids on November 4, 1946. Joseph was a member of the Ponti-Peterson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Grand Rapids, Minnesota, the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association and the Itasca Chapter of Ducks Unlimited.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Marie; daughter, Sharon Olson; sons, Roger and Tom; brother, Burt, and nine grandchildren.
Buried in Harris Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot 2.34.4.2)
