    Joseph had lived in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and had moved from Grand Rapids to Bremerton, Washington three years ago. He was a farmer and miner in this area.

    Joseph was active in Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was instrumental in establishing several VFW posts, including Barracks 2504 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota where he also served as commander.

    Joseph is survived by a son, Dale; six stepsons, Chester Ostby, Orin Ostby, Gerald Wourms, Royal Wourms, and Terry Wourms; two stepdaughters, Donna Wourms Doty and Maxine Wourms Kiger; two sisters, Exzelia Jones and Mary Fontaine; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

    Joseph died at the American Lake Veterans Hospital in Tacoma, Washington and is buried in the Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park at Bremerton, Washington.
