Joseph lived at Dora Lake in Itasca County, Minnesota and Seattle, Washington.
Since 1964, he has lived in Britt, Minnesota.
Joseph married Wilma H. Sandin in Grand Rapids, Minnesota on March 20, 1953.
He worked as a millwright with Jones and Laughlin and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and United Steelworkers Union 4212.
Joseph was a Boy Scout leader and scoutmaster and was on the district scout board.
Joseph was preceded in death by his brother, Laurence in 1944 and his mother, Alma, in 1949.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma; one son, Joseph; a daughter, Mrs. Douglas (Karen) Chappell; his father, Joseph; a brother, Lowell; two sisters, Mrs. Chester (Alice) Isaacson and Mrs. Gene (Blanche) Birch; several nieces, nephews, and foster children.
Joseph died at the Virginia Municipal Hospital in Virginia, Minnesota. He is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery at Max, Minnesota in Itasca County.
