Joseph Smuk, Jr. moved to Marble, Minnesota in 1916 where he was a partner in a grocery store. After he completed his service during World War I, he returned to Marble where he was a resident for many years. He was Marble postmaster for a short term and was proprietor of a restaurant. He was a charter member of the Poppe-Smuk-Appelget Post of the American Legion and a past commander. He later moved to California.
Joseph died in Westminster, California and is buried in Los Angeles National Cemetery, Los Angeles, California (401, 3R W2). He is survived by his widow, Beda; two stepsons; and a stepdaughter.
