Julius was raised and attended schools in the Spang community.

Following his discharge, he returned to Spang Township to operate a dairy farm.

Survivors are his mother, Ruth; a brother Gerald; and sisters, Marietta Washburn and Mary Lou Hamburg.

Julius died at Itasca Memorial Hospital in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Hill Lake Cemetery at Hill City, Minnesota.
