    Kermit "Bud" Joseph Akre married Virginia (Vale) Erickson (aka Dolly) on September 28, 1940 and helped raise her children Ben and Vail Petis. They had a son, Duane Kermit Akre. He later married Myrtle Gunvor Sorgren-Morken. Myrtle had two children-Carl Bradley and Tobilyn Marita Morken.

    Bud worked at Blandin Paper Company in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
