Lawrence was raised in Princeton, Minnesota until coming to Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 1947.
He was married to Helen Moshier at Elk River, Minnesota in June, 1939.
In Grand Rapids, he worked for United States Steel at the Plummer and Arcturus mines and at the Trout Lake washing plant until his retirement.
Lawrence was a member of the McVeigh-Dunn American Legion Post.
Survivors are his wife, Helen; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas Flynn, Mrs. Alfred Lilgreen, and Mrs. Clyde Beck; two sons, Reil and Kenneth; six sisters, Mrs. Charles McGinty, Mrs. Irving Jelmo, Miss Marie Grow, Mrs. John Winkleman, Mrs. Dave St. Sauver; and Mrs. Ben Freeman; seventeen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Lawrence died at Itasca Memorial Hospital in Grand Rapids and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot I-G-12-2-9)
