Leonard lived in Deer River, Minnesota from 1930 to 1953. He lived in Novato, California from 1953 to 1980 when he moved to Shasta County, California.

He is survived by wife, Mabel; sons, Allan and Stephen; daughters, Clara Wulfestieg, Linda Brand, and Mary Schimberg; sister, Ruth Winters; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Leonard died in Valley West Care Center in Williams, California and is buried in Anderson District Cemetery at Anderson, California. (Block 8)
