Les Mattfield worked for Dairyland Electric for 30 years as a member services director, retiring in 1990. He was a self-employed hobby farmer and was an avid horseman, traveling to Missouri, Montana, and Arizona. He was a Trout Lake Township Supervisor, a member of Kiwanis Club, and a charter member of Itasca County Mounted Posse.
Les died in his home in rural Bovey and is buried in Lakeside Cemetery, Trout Lake Township, Bovey, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife, Judy; his children, Leslie (Jon) Venditto, Lee (Nikki) Mattfield, Chris (Diana) Mattfield, Steve (Sue) Mattfield, and Kyle (Amy) Mattfield; step-children, Justine (Donnie) Polzin and Joel (Suzanne) Amato; one brother, Robert (Claudie) Mattfield; eighteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, June Jacobson and Geri Louis.
