Lester was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, a son, Donald, great-grandson, Palmer Kurth; two brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his children, Sue Palmer (Cal), Paul (Vikki), Lester, Jr. (Debbie), Roy (Kathy) and Betsy; significant other, Sally Ostendorf; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Bud and Don; and other relatives and friends.
