Lloyd served in the Aleutian Islands during World War II and also saw action aboard the heavy cruiser Pittsburg in the South Pacific as an Electricians Mate First Class.

Lloyd attended schools in Cokato, Minnesota. Following school, he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to work for a time.
He married Helen Felker in Quincy, Massachusetts on October 25, 1944. The couple lived in Minneapolis and later in Grand Rapids, Minnesota where he worked for Itasca Heating and Sheet Metal. He then established Gilmer Heating Service which he operated until his retirement.
Lloyd was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1720 of Grand Rapids.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; a foster daughter, Gloria Partridge; a sister, Nettie Patrick; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Lloyd died at Homestead Nursing Home in Deer River, Minnesota and is buried in Harris Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot 2.40.1.2)
