    Lowell entered the service in November, 1942 and was in the Army Infantry. He took training in Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, and California. He was sent overseas in September, 1944. Lowell saw action in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany as a member of the 102nd Division, in the First Army under General Hodges.

    Information from Deer River News, dated December 14, 1944:
    Lowell Dugan Dies of Wounds Following a Battle in Germany.
    Mr. and Mrs. Myrl Dugan received a telegram Sunday morning announcing the death of their son Sergeant Lowell Eugene Dugan from wounds suffered in action in Germany Nov. 23, 1944.
    Lowell took training in Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, and California. He was sent overseas in September, 1944. He saw action in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He served under General Hodges.
    The body of Sergeant Dugan was interred in the Henri Chapelle temporary cemetery in Belgium, but has been returned to this country for reburial at the request of his next of kin.

    Lowell served with the 413 Infantry Regiment, 104th Infantry Division.

    Lowell came with his parents to Deer River, Minnesota while still a small child and attended the grade school and high school in Deer River, Minnesota.

    He was a member of the football and basketball teams, and active in school doings.

    Lowell was married to Lillian Cook on June 14, 1942.

    Lowell is survived by his wife; son, Lowell, Jr.; daughter, Sharon; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Myrl Dugan; two sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Velma) Robertson and Mrs. James (Phyllis) Flesch; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dugan and Mr. and Mrs. John Stumbo; and numerous other relatives.

    Lowell is buried in Olivet Cemetery at Deer River, Minnesota. (Plot Div A, Row 3, Military Section)
