    Lyle grew up and attended schools in Manannah, Minnesota and graduated from Hill City High School in Hill City, Minnesota. He worked for Mahron Motors and Western Oil in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He married Patricia Manella on March 21, 1964, in Warba, Minnesota. He later worked for Bechtel Construction Company and worked at Blandin Paper Company in Grand Rapids, Minnesota from 1965 until his retirement due to illness in 1993. He also owned and operated Grinderman Saw Sharpening in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Third Order Lay Carmelites, Itasca Vintage Car Club and the National HET.

    Lyle is survived by his wife, Patricia "Patty" Ann; daughter, Michelle Gould; son Randy Scott; four sisters, Mavis Gould, Maureen "Gabby" Kluge, Nadine Svetc, and Sheila Erickson; six brothers, Ronald, Lynn, Darrel, Doyle, Bruce, and Dale; and his father Albert Earl Gould. He was preceded in death by his mother and an infant brother.
