    Newspaper article: 1944 – Marcus Clark Jr. went to Minneapolis last week to take his examinations for the Naval Reserve, passing the examinations, and is awaiting orders for Jacksonville, Florida, where he will be in a radar school. Marcus Clark was one of six boys out of 20 at Greenway high school who passed the examinations given locally in the V-12 program for boys of 17 years.

    Newspaper article: 1944 – Marcus Clark Jr. left yesterday noon to report in the Naval Reserve for technical schooling in Memphis, Tenn. He enlisted several months ago, after graduating in June from Greenway high school, and was able to get in a few weeks at Itasca junior college before he was called.
