Martin was employed for School District #318 as a bus driver and later worked in the maintenance department for several years until his retirement in 1994.

Martin was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Nancy; a sister; four brothers; and second wife, Avis in 1997.

Survived by his daughter, Cindi (Stu Myers) Butterfield; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Martin died at his home in Wildwood Township, in Itasca County, Minnesota and is buried in Harris Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
