Mathew Berardo attended school in the Greenway School District, Coleraine, Minnesota. He married Jean Brandon in October of 1942. He was employed by U.S. Steel for 40 years, retiring in 1977. He and his wife Jean owned and operated Taconite Grocery in Taconite, Minnesota , and later Berardo's Sports Wear in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
Mathew Berardo died in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine, Minnesota (Block 138). He is survived by his wife; sons, Bart and William; daughter, Elizabeth Berardo; sisters, Katherine Tarro, Madeline Poore and Mary Claire Guyer; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Bart and James Berardo.
