    Max was an active businessman in the Hibbing, Minnesota area for many years, owning the General Vegetable Markets/Lawn and Garden Centers in Hibbing and Virginia, Minnesota. He also operated the General Trucking Company.

    In 1984, he and his wife, Kay, opened the very successful Old Howard Saloon and Eatery in Hibbing.

    In 1996, they retired and moved to Jupiter, Florida.

    In 2013, Max moved to Aiken, South Carolina to be closer to family for his care. He resided in Aiken for three years until his illness took his life.

    Max is survived by his son, Max, Jr.; his former wife, Kay, who cared for him throughout his illness of Alzheimer's; and a sister, Dorothy (Walter) Kukich.

    He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Prebeck; father, Anton General; and a daughter, Brenda Oden.

    Max passed away at the VA Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing, Minnesota. No photo of grave marker is available at this time. (Maplehill-6-162-4 e 1/2)
