    Melvin had been employed as a maintenance mechanic for Butler Brothers.

    He enjoyed deer hunting, visiting with family and friends especially the grandchildren, and having coffee downtown almost every day. Melvin loved the fish Wayne would bring him and the Minnesota Twins.

    He is survived by two sons, Wayne (Margaret) and William (Bonnie Kangas); brother, Maynard (Sheri); sister, Grace Whiteman; twenty-one grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

    Besides his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Donna in 2000; son, Walter; daughter, Vera and infant daughter, Johana; and a sister, Gladys Hummel.

    Melvin died at his home and is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing, Minnesota. (Plot Maplehill-10-106-6 w 1/2)
