    Melvin Loff married Elizabeth "Betty" Lee in 1941. From 1950 to 1993, he farmed in Mizpah, Minnesota, and had also worked various jobs, including working in the mines in Babbitt, and the paper mill in International Falls. He retired in 1993 and moved to Bemidji, He lived in Blackduck from 2001 to 2006 and then in Grand Rapids from 2007 until his death. He was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church of Mizpah for more than 40 years. He was a past member of the American Legion. He enjoyed farming, liked to attend auction sales, listen to country music, play guitar and sing.

    Melvin died in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and he is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Longville, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Gary (Denise) Loff; daughters, Carol Geringer and Nancy (Bill) Thompson; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Paul (Della) Loff. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arnold Loff; and one son-in-law.
