    Merlyn grew up and attended schools in Hubbard County, Minnesota.

    Following discharge from the military, he married Racheal P. Pritchard on May 7, 1946, in Park Rapids, Minnesota.

    They came to the Grand Rapids, Minnesota area in 1952. He worked thirty-six years for M.A. Hanna Mining Company, retiring in 1988. He and his wife were currently operating the Pines Mobile Court in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the American Legion and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

    Preceded in death by his wife on December 7, 1992, and six brothers, his surviving relatives include daughter Judy Giesen; son Leo; sisters Donna Jensen, Ruth Milander, and Marge Gray; brothers, John and Donald; and five grandchildren.

    Buried in Harris Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot 3.1.4.4)
