Neal grew up and attended schools in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
He married Clara S. Jorgensen on November 11, 1944, in Hunter, North Dakota. They lived many years in the Fargo, North Dakota area.
Neal and Clara moved to Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 1963. He worked for many years as a carpet and tile installer, retiring in 1979.
Neal enjoyed woodworking and rosemaling.
He was a member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, the American Legion where he was very active, the 40 & 8 Itasca County Voiture 806, the Disabled American Veterans and Itasca Lodge 208 A.F. & A.M., all of Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Hazel Erickson.
Neal is survived by his wife, Clara; daughters, Barbara Young and Connie O'Rourke; sons, Steven and Richard; half-brothers, Lanny Erickson and Dennis Vaughan; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Neal died in the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot I-G-09-3-1)
