Sam had lived in Litchfield, Detroit, Minneapolis, and Calumet, Minnesota.
Sam and Irene Maney were married June 27, 1959, in Marble, Minnesota.
He had been a foreman for Dukee-Atwood Manufacturing in Minneapolis, Minnesota for 25 years and had worked in sales in Alloy-Hardfacing & Engineering Company of Jordon, Minnesota for 15 years.
Sam was an avid golfer and fisherman.
His parents, Newtie and Lucille Draxten preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Irene; daughters, Greta Berger and Kelly Draxten; three granddaughters; sisters, Lylias (Bud) Hodgson and Bev (Don) Carlson; and several nieces and nephews.
Sam died in Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery at Coleraine, Minnesota.
