Oscar was raised in Howard Lake, Minnesota, where he worked on the family farm.
Following his discharge in 1919, he moved to Grand Rapids, Minnesota where he was employed on Pokegama Ferry. He then worked as a logger for Remer Land Company.
Oscar married Josephine Fideldy in 1924.
He was then employed at Blandin Paper Company for twenty-one years.
In 1943, Oscar purchased the Deer River Coast to Coast Store and moved to Deer River, Minnesota. He operated the store until his retirement in 1962.
Oscar was a member of the Deer River Lions Club, American Legion Post 122, World War I Barracks, and Redeemer Lutheran Church, all of Deer River, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1987 and a granddaughter, Cynthia Hermel in 1987.
Surviving relatives include sons George, Alvin, and Robert; three grandsons; three great-grandchildren; and a niece Katherine Kasman.
Oscar died in his home and is buried in Olivet Cemetery in Morse Township, Deer River, Minnesota. (Plot Div A, Block 12, Plot 4)
