Pat Murphy married Harriet Loreen Benson in 1953 in Minnesota. After his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for the Pinkerton Detective Agency and then Washington County Welfare Fraud Division. He was a lifelong taxidermist, well-known for his artistry.
Pat died in his home in Deer River, Minnesota and is buried in Evergreen Knoll Cemetery, Marcell, Minnesota. He is survived by his mother Gene (Tibbetts) Sperstad; his wife, Loreen; children, Kathy (Dave), Patrick Jr. (Angel), Jesse (Lisa), and Michael (Lisa); twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Edmund Murphy; stepfathers, John Freeburg and Tom Sperstad; sister, Sallie Bennett; and brother, Michael Murphy.
