    Peder Barsness came to the Grand Rapids area after serving in the Army in the Korean War for two years. He married Dorothy "Peggy" Letourneau in Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 1953. He worked as a truck driver for the Cleveland-Cliffs Mining Company and later Troumbley Brothers Construction. He was the owner and operator of the Barsness Water and Sewer Company which he operated until his death. He was a member of the Local 49ers, Operating Engineers.

    Pete died in Duluth and is buried in Lakeside Cemetery, Trout Lake Township, Bovey, Minnesota. He is survived by a daughter, Joyce Schultz; a son, Peder; two brothers, Lloyd and Willard; special friend, Donna Christiansen; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death his his parents; his wife, Peggy, in 1987; a sister, Norma Baron; and a brother, Earl.
