Raymond worked for the Duluth, Mesabi and Iron Range Railroad Company for 38 years, retiring in June, 1987. He married Joan Jouppe on August 7, 1982, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He was a member of the F.O.E. Aerie 2469 and Moose Lodge 2023, both of Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Joan, daughter Susan McCartney, two grandchildren; three brothers, Eldon, Neal, and John; and sister Nola Surface.
