Raymond joined the United States Navy in January, 1944. He trained at Great Lakes Naval Station and Madison, Wisconsin Radio School.
Ray shipped out of San Francisco, California in 1945 to Leyte Gulf and boarded the USS Dixie. The USS Dixie was involved in the liberation of Shanghai. Ray returned to Minneapolis, Minnesota after the war ended.
In 1948, Ray joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Alaska and Japan during the Korean Conflict.

Ray returned to Minneapolis, Minnesota and owned ABC Lettering for several years.
He loved the outdoors and woods and finally moved to the Bigfork, Minnesota area in late 1966, where he met and married Ethelle Probst.
Ray worked for Combustion Engineering from 1970-1985.
Then he and Ethelle moved from East to West and North to South but it was always an adventure. They retired to their lake home in Remer, Minnesota.
Ray loved golfing, fishing and hunting and he and Ethelle bowled three times a week.
He did volunteer work for AARP, delivered Meals on Wheels and was active in church at Remer and Cohasset, Minnesota when he was able.
Ray leaves his wife of 45 years, Ethelle; daughter, Sharon (George) Wray; stepson, Tim (Jeanne) Probst; stepdaughters Noel (Creed) Gilliam and Nancy Probst; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren (plus 2 on the way); brothers, Larry Falck, Bernard "Butch" (Jan) Falck; sister Lee Gustafson; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Angie; parents, Bernard and Pearl Falck; brother, Harlan Falck; and sisters Barbara Smith and Arlene Schafer.
Ray died after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
