    After graduation, Rick enlisted in the United States Navy and during his ten years of service, he worked as both boiler technician and shore patrol.

    Upon his release from service, Rick worked a short time with Goudy Brothers Boiler Company before joining the Kokomo Police Department.

    In 1976, he married Janice Soblotne.

    Rick and his family lived eight years in central Florida where he was a patrolman for the Haines City Police Department. Then, in 1992, the family moved to Effie, Minnesota.

    Rick was a lifetime member of the VFW and, for a time, served as quartermaster of Post 1764 in Bigfork, Minnesota.

    Rick is survived by his wife, Janice; daughter, Vanessa Fugate; sons, Troy (Meijie) and Dakota; one grandson; one sister, Vicky Spall (Jeff); two nephews; a great niece and two great nephews.

    Rick died after an extended illness and is buried in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at Minneapolis, Minnesota. (Sec. 31, Site 1674)
